Everything generated by payroll — paystubs, tax forms, authorizations, and reports — is available in-app for both admins and employees.

Paystubs

Employees see every paystub in their portal under Paystubs; admins can view the same paystubs from each employee’s profile. Each paystub breaks down:
  • Earnings — each earning line and total gross pay
  • Taxes — federal income tax, state income tax, Social Security, and Medicare
  • Deductions — benefits and post-tax deductions
  • Net pay — the amount deposited to the employee’s account

Documents

Administration → Documents collects your company’s payroll paperwork:
  • Tax documents — quarterly and annual filings Bolto makes on your behalf
  • Authorization documents — signed filing authorizations per state
  • Setup documents — agreements from payroll setup
All documents can be previewed in-app and downloaded.

Filing authorizations

Each state where you run payroll needs a signed filing authorization. Bolto banners any that are outstanding — a state’s authorization becomes available to sign once its tax details are complete and an employee is assigned there.

Employee tax documents (W-2s)

Year-end W-2s (and 1099-NEC forms for contractors) are filed by Bolto and appear under Documents — for you on each worker’s profile, and for workers in their own portal. Electronic-delivery consent is tracked per worker. Employees can also update their tax withholding at any time from their Documents page.

Reports

From any submitted payroll’s detail page you can download:
  • Payroll summary report — a CSV payroll journal covering employees and contractors in the run
  • Tax forms & receipts — a tax liability report for the run
Payroll history is exportable from Payroll → History, and time-off requests and transactions have their own CSV exports.
Connect QuickBooks Online from Administration → Integrations to sync payroll journal entries to your books automatically after each run. See Benefits & Deductions for the full integrations list.
