Bolto supports employee benefits three ways: benefit plans you configure directly, post-tax deductions and garnishments per employee, and integrations with benefits providers that sync to payroll automatically.

Benefit plans

Create benefit plans from Administration → Benefits:
1

General information

Plan name, provider, benefit type, description, and effective dates.
2

Contribution

Employer and employee contributions, as a fixed amount or a percentage.
3

Assign employees

Choose which employees receive the benefit.
Supported benefit types cover:
  • Pre-tax (Section 125) — medical, dental, vision, disability, accident, cancer, critical illness, hospital, life, and other Section 125 plans
  • Retirement — 401(k), Roth 401(k), 403(b), Roth 403(b), 457, Roth 457, SIMPLE IRA, and non-qualified deferred compensation
  • Spending accounts — medical FSA, dependent care FSA, HSA
  • Commuter — transit and parking
  • Non-taxable fringe benefits
Contributions are applied automatically on each payroll. Employees see their benefits in their own portal.

Post-tax deductions & garnishments

From an employee’s Deductions tab you can set up:
  • Child support — with issuing agency, order ID, amount, and maximum percentage
  • Miscellaneous deductions — fixed amount or percentage, with optional total and annual limits
  • Miscellaneous garnishments — including a priority order when multiple garnishments apply
Each deduction has effective start and end dates and is applied automatically in payroll.

Benefits integrations

Connect providers from Administration → Integrations — changes sync to payroll automatically:
